just bought these Star drums

Just bought these sight unseen (that's the problem when you go out for a couple of drinks and come home and look at drums for sale, you don't act completely rationally it would seem).

They look good in the pics (haven't got them yet) but I can't find an exact match in the catalogs. Any thoughts? It does come with a Tama Imperial Star kick pedal from the '74 catalog so I was wondering if maybe this is a late Star kit?

Man, seriously nice! 20-12-12-14? Don't worry about the wrap color, we see far too many that never make it to the catalogs. It is likely original. Post-67, 6 and 9 ply shells, the rail is the high end one. These are nice man. I see hydraulic heads, means he has trouble tuning and figured the high dollar heads would help, when in fact he needs to smooth the edges and wax them. These got the mojo, mofo!

See, I like the hydraulic heads, and I know how to tune my drums... I think they deliver a nice "solid" sound...

Nice cool drums and a never-seen-wrap. If that colour would be brownish (in natural), then it was called 'Tiger Pearl'. But in greyish-blue??? Perhaps a prototype finish?

Yep, good 'ol Trademe. From your backyard too. The next day there was a 60's Yamaha kit in your city with a tasty Buy now price too. I would have been in big trouble if I grabbed that one as well. Didn't last long tho.

looking at the Tama/Star catalogs I think this is more likely to be from the '72 range. It has the No.939 tone controls on the toms from that catalog as well as the BD spur holders. It has the more basic spade tom holders though. The wrap colour's not listed either.
