Here's what I sent the seller:

I am interested in the kit. There are not any pictures posted that show the condition of the bass. Could you email me some pics of the insides and bearing edges of the bass and the tom? I would appreciate it. If all is good, I would like to make an offer.

Thank you.

michael

Here's the reply:

What? This is a VINTAGE set. If you want that precise of an edge, buy a new custom kit or a vistalite that you can edge to perfection.

Here's my reply:

Obviously, you are hiding something. I've posted our communications on the web alerting many to your wicked ways. Shame on you. Shame on you. If you don't tell the potential buyer that the edges are suspect, you are taking advantage. That's just wrong. You really should reconsider telling the truth and being honest. It is the right thing to do.

Obviously, the genetic deficient individual is hiding something. Surprise surprise. So, for those of you watching this auction ... you may wish to tread with care.

I love those crooked sellers that have no ethics and evidently no conscious. What a wonderful world. Makes me so proud.

Hers's a quote from the Dullard!!!

Some of you asked about the bearing edges. If you are that precise of a rudiment drummer, you should be looking at a custom set. This is a VINTAGE set. If you buy this VINTAGE set and you need that precise of an edge, you can take the shells into the computerized mill when you buy them. My drum teacher was a world famous rudiment drummer and one of the best drummers in the world...not on this set. come on! "PREDICTION A NO SALE FOR THE MORON"!!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I don't know why the internal muffler holes are that way, though. I thought that all floor toms from this era had the mufflers with three horizontal holes.....don't know the technical names for them unfortunately

My guess is that PMs and posts are being mixed here, cause I'm lost.

Where is Carnac when you need him...?

Kevins, I started this thread and I'm lost! We have two conversations going here. I've got a 14x14 Slingerland Marine Pearl (I guess) floor tom that I'm trying to figure out the value of so I can decide to sell or trade. This all started because I am trying to put together a kit with drums I have and mentioned about recovering the 14x14. We are all in agreement that that is a bad idea and I've given up on that idea. Then I mention about selling or trading it. Well it IS a 14x14 and now LOTS of people are interested. Somebody mentioned a matching bass drum and tom on E-Bay. Well the guy selling those drums seems suspect. That has caused an E-Bay bashing rant (rightfully so). I AM NOT THE GUY SELLING THE DRUMS ON E-BAY! I'm the guy that bought the little 14x14 at an auction for $3. Yikes, did I just say that,Eye Ball and give away my cost? LoLoLoLo I'm watching the drums on E-Bay myself to see how this comes out. Thanks to all the people that are interested in my drum and I haven't forgotten anybody. Be patient, I'm at work where I have the fastest connection. My home connection is dial up so I can only deal with this at work and then only for short periods of time. Blair, thanks for the trade offer, you do have some things I need for my kit, remember my kit restore, that's how we got where we are now. I'm considering it. I'm not putting you off, I'm just slow. If I could buy a matching BD and tom for a couple hundred bucks I too would like a kit with the 14x14 but if I can't I have other fish to fry. I'm a bit overwhelmed at this point. I'm a drummer, you'll have to talk slow.LoLoLoLo I do love all this interaction and I'm learning a bunch.Group Hug

Sorry 'bout that ebay thing. I was genuinely interested in the floor tom IF I could work the deal with the ebay seller. I posted the results of that as a way of letting you know, I'm out. I also did it for those of us watching that unethical seller. I sincerely did not mean to take this "off road". It just kinda happened that way.

As far as the floor tom goes, it's a VERY sweet drum and there's someone out there in need of it. Be patient. They will show themselves.

The color of your tom is "Light Blue Pearl." Ludwig also used the wrap and called it "Sky Blue Pearl." Marine Pearl, though similar, is a whiter color.

You guys amaze me with your knowledge. I guess I really screwed up trying to describe my drum. On the E-Bay thing we been talking about here is my interaction with the guy:

Dear orion95008,

The shipping seems a little high. Add it to the

starting price and I feel you have priced your

items a little too high. I would be interested in

your drums but from what I have seen here you

might check the shipping price again. You can

charge what you want and I hope I haven't offended

you.

- squireallan

His reply:

Dear squireallan,

Do YOU have any idea what it costs to package, ship and insure and set like this? Apparently not.

- orion95008

My reply to him:

Dear orion95008,

I shipped 4 drums from Illinois to Florida in two boxes for $68. I'm not trying to make you mad. I just know if you send something in an oversized box it DOES cost some cash. Bubble wrap is your friend, you don't have to put 3 inches of peanuts all around drums to ship. That is how I got stuck with a large ship bill one time. I'm just passing along helpful info. The vintage drum community is a helpful group as well as a group that does communicate among itself. If you come off as a dick it will not go well in the vintage drum group. Again, I'm not trying to tell you your business, I'm hoping to just be helpful.

This guy needs to learn the old adage: You can catch more flies with honey than.........yadda, yadda, you know the rest. I don't wish this guy any bad ju-ju, he's doing that on his own.

How does he expect to sell this stuff? His pictures are worthless, his description is worthless, and refuses to provide more pics or a better description of the condition. He seems to take offense to everything. This stuff could be in mint shape and it still won't sell because he refuses to show us better pics. Atleast you guys got responses, he never emailed me back and all I asked was for a better description of the condition of the kick drum and tom, I was very polite in my email.
