Hi, does anyone know the pedigree of these cymbals, my freind has asked me to sell a 20" crash/ride and it sounds really nice, but for all the years iv'e been playing iv'e never heard of an "IZMIR",, it has Turkish type decals on it and is rather dirty,, the thing is, i dont know if it's worth alot or nothing at all, the sound of the ride, bell and crash properties suggests it's not a cheaply made cymbal,, any help would be appreciated,, Lee

Please post some pix, we can't see it, we don't know what it is. If you can get the stamps, that is always helpful...

After some investigating,I'd guess this is a small factory in Turkey hand making cymbals. No direct lead to the brand name, but Izmir is a city and/or area in Turkey.I'd buy it from your friend.Hand made instrument....special.

Izmir is know in english as Smyrna...which was the Greek name for the city before the Turks invaded it.

I once came across the most terrible pair of hi-hats called Izmir...just heavy brass pieces of hubcap, really...although they had been falsely patina'd at the factory to look old and cool. They had "Izmir" written in english characters, however...not like yours.

Dammit..I'd love top own that puppy also...I am very into unusual cymbals...and that looks like a hella nice handmade Turkish B20. If you ever wanna unload it, lemme know.

Congrats...very cool cymbal.

That 2nd Izmir isn't the same as the first.

But that first one looks very cool to me. And as you say, it sounds good. That's what really counts.
