The posted Izmir , is most likely an Italian made cymbal---- one of the brands that Tosco was using or custom labelled for. There are a number of physical characteristics; the lathing,the subtle, gently curved fluting around the bell, the bell conformation relative to the bow and most notably , the wavy structure along a portion of the edge, that say, Italian. At some point, Sabian started producing a line of cheap spun pies branded Izmir too.That's what all those other Izmirs are. They were possibly , the precursor in their stable, to Solar, their current 100.00, entry level cymbal pack, or just up from there.They were spun bronze with either large machine hammered dimples or large scribed circles on them , that make them look like they were crafted by an octopus. They kind of sound like they are under water too. Sabian bought Tosco , so that is probably where the Izmir, branding got acquired.
