Is this a pearl president deluxe?

This is up for auction this week, It's listed as a pearl president deluxe but I can't find a similar looking one in the catalogues. Is this a wood kit? Anyone seen one like this before? Eye Ball

Hey Trev, it's a president kit alright but it's been modded. Bass drum legs are yamaha copies and the snare looks non original.

Thanks for the confirmation, I've been trying to find one of these! Yeah the bar tom mount seems a little weird for pearl at that time as well. Did the president first come out in '69? Sumo Dude

Although the lugs look right with that wrap - I can see no badge in the photo, no interior shot of the black fiberglass shell and the tom mount is all wrong. You couldn`t be sure from that photo. It looks alot like a mid 70s Pearl wrap and the sizes and lugs like right with that but I would have to see a little bit of a shell interior to say President. Also, why would someone switch out those sweet, sweet President tom mounts for that??? If they did switch it out I would suspect a bunch of odd holes up there- be careful I suggest.

I have two President kits and have played/inspected a dozen or so -all Presidents have a dark chocolate colored fiberglass shell interior.

Actually, going back and really studying the photo- I can`t be sure those lugs are right either. The bass drum spurs may be after-market as well. Really looking at it, I can`t see a reason to say it`s a President.

Here`s some detail from the 1975 President catalog section. Notice the big, heavy duty Rogers copy lugs in the catalog page kit- that happened in 74/75 . Great lugs big, heavy duty rectangles.

I'm no expert but i suspect that "President", in this case, may just be another stencil kit name. I'm sure I've seen one for sale here (NZ) before and the badge resembled the badge on a cheap President guitar I once had. I'd be surprised if it had any Pearl badges on it, just President.

Yeah I asked if it had fibreglass in the shell and they said it was wood grain, and the tom mount is just odd! Maybe it's just a stencil kit with modified legs.

Yeah the lugs are all wrong for sure, I've been combing that catalogue as well, I suspect it might just be a stencil kit. The mounts and lugs are more reminiscent of a star maybe?

Yeah I remember the president guitar, I'd love to get one! You could be right it probably just has a president sticker somewhere! I'll see if I can get the guy to take a photo of the badge!

in the 1st pic on the listing you can just see a badge in front of the tom rail mount. The shape looks familiar but not in a Pearl President way.

I actually think an old friend of mine in Auckland still has that old President guitar. I must check sometime.
