I recently picked up a set of Presidents. Using them in our practice studio. They sound great! Tom mounts are a copy cat Swivomatic. Got some neat old Zildjians and a couple Ludwig Atlas stands with'em. Here's a crummy cell phone pic.........Bill

Yep, those are the real deal. They sound good because they were designed for studio recording. They were the sought after set for recording in Japan from 69-75. Sweet.

Looking at the tom mount plate on the tom, it is triangular and is indeed a Star built mount, at the very least. The look overall points me in the Star direction.

It turns out it has a badge on it that says it's a president deluxe, so it is a president deluxe, just not a pearl president. Maybe this is a stencil kit made by star or pearl? The snare had a pearl skin on it, so the guy thought it was a pearl kit.Toilet The hunt continues!

I found pretty much the same kit in a star catalogue, it's looks like a star drum mate 5 1966, the tom holder is pretty much identical as are the tom sizes.Walking

well spotted. So it's effectively an early Swingstar. Probably quite a nice kit for the money it's at now, but not too much more.
