An excellent example of blandness! I bet with the amount of money they spent making this record cardboard boxes would have sounded huge!

VM, I must say I thoroughly enjoy our constant back and forth DW ribbing!

Ill admit they CAN sound great in the right hands with the right heads. Just saying though....a recording with that many bucks behind it is NOT the arena to prove any point in.

Its like saying a kit sounds great at an arena rock show and that it sounds that way because it is a DW.

I don't think it's necessarily DW's cardboard sound...that was the sound of the day:

caddywampus, thank you for the help!!, The Dw thing strikes me as rather funny, but not in a funny way! Dw is a drum company and they build custom drums and to say you hate DW's which is their words the detractors. there are drums that aren't my cup of tea, but not any to say I hate, I love all drums!! I'm a drummer, so I love drums!! period!

Adam. also a little note. I own every vintage brand except rogers and that will change one day also, singles and kits from the 20's to 70's, and I have a lot of slingerlands! My Dw's rank right there beside any of them except my stainless steel kit, these is no wood kit even in the same catagory of what stainless can do!

To "hate" DW is like somebody back in the late 60s saying that they hated Ludwigs. There's no reason for it, and it's only a personal preference issue, anyways. There's a reason for DWs being so popular...whether that's due to their sound or their marketing is still up in the air. If you don't like 'em, then good--play what you love! I don't enjoy the sterile sound of modern-day high-end Pearl drum sets, but I wouldn't say that I HATE them! I just play other drums. Pearl's stock isn't going to go down if I start ranting about them on an internet drum forum...

Come on man! You're always dad talkin' me. Knock it off. You have a hard time letting others have opinions it seems.

All of those video examples are of bands with multi million dollar recording budgets and access to the highest of end audio manipulation tools. How does that prove anything but my point? DW has NOTHING to do with it.

Also...not to burst your bubble...but just because a band has a DW kit in their video doesn't mean they recorded the tune with it. Your prime example (Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron) switched to Yamaha years ago! At least two of those other bands aren't using DW and their drums sound very similar on the recordings.

How that is a kudos to your point is absolutely beyond me.
