Oh my. Those are absolutely gorgeous. I would LOVE to have that kit. That is the era of Tama drums that I love. They made some incredible shells and hardware. It could lead me to trade my Rogers for that one. Dang nice kit.

As for wanting to sell it... It's been a long time since I played, and the dinky town I live in doesn't have many pro level musicians. I've gotten into playing Tabla and that's a good fit for me - very challenging.

Well...Portland and Seattle have a lotta musicians, so maybe it's worth throwin' 'em up on BOTH of those Craigslists....local enuff.....but really, if it were me, I wouldn't take anything less than $2000 (and that doesn't include the cymbals)...even that is a darn decent deal for a buyer.

...if you throw in the cymbals & cymbal stands...'80's Zildjians (?)....add another $200-300 there....& those timbales would be worth another $400 or so, at least.....

Like I said, thing about eFlay...um...you know what I mean....is that it gets so much more exposure and some real Tama nuts can get into a bid war on that kit (just the 7 pcs. of standard drums - i.e. sans timbales - and connecting hardware), so it could well move into the $2500+ range.

The downside is, if you haven't used that venue to sell before, you wouldn't have any seller feedback so that would keep some bidders away. AND...you have to pack up and ship the stuff (shipping paid by buyer, of course).

So it's kinda like deciding if the hassle is worth the extra $500 or so...

I dunno, personally Craigslist bums me out...good place to sell mediocre things for a decent quick-sale, but a bad place to sell really nice stuff. You rarely get close to what the market value really is.....

I have to agree on the C/L thang. Too many flakes, too little return, but if you are looking for a bargain....bingo....and in the SeaTac Portland area, I have run upon a some difficult dealings myself...just my observation, but they tend to discount my opinion while holding there stuff in higher esteem than warranted. Many members of this forum live in that area and one is selling an MIJ kit that is incomplete, not really the most desirable shells, IMO, but a great wrap and with some damage to the edges, and is over the real market value by a minimum factor of 2 to 2.5 times. Now, this is my opinion, and one of my "buddies" here, that is local to the area, has the same experience and opinion.

You never know with prices. I think $1700 might be a little optimistic in this economy right now. A Super Mahogany Superstar snare ended yesterday on ebay for $172.57. It was a 6 1/2" but he called it an 8". Doesn't really matter, anyone that looked at it and knew what it was should have bid. The auction number is 310222254489. Prices seem to still be dropping.
