From EricP

I'm in the process of putting togther a Cherry Wine Superstar so I've beenwatching feeBay and CL quite a bit for pieces, but here is anotherSuper Mahog. kit listed right now with fewer pieces - http://cgi.ebay.com/TAMA-SUPERSTAR-24-13-14-18-SUPER-MAHOGANY-SHELL-KIT-80s-/270584887964?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f001dba9cShipping's not too bad either and it hasn't moved from the open priceat $740.

I've seen that set on ebay before. I would be suprised if it sold. Prices will increase again, its just a matter of time. Nice drums but sets are just not bringing that kind on money unless they included some unusual sizes. For example, if that set had a 20 inch bass drum instead of the 24 it could get that price.

Yup. Also if it was Aqua Marine 18'' kick with a 14'' x 14'' floor tom and

8'' x 8'' and 8'' x 10'' rack toms. Fantasy land dreaming on that but I bet

someone has some special order sizes since they were available according

to the catalogs... :D

Found it!!

Greetings:

It's my first post, but have read a lot on the forum for a while.

You fellows have a lot of great info on the old Tama Superstars in Super Mahogany.

I was about to list a 6 piece early 80's Super Mahogany and wondered if this site is a good place to see gear? Any input, feedback, concerns, case studies, luck, that you guys have had here on the forum?

I have listed them unsuccessfully on craigslist for two weeks and just fielded a bunch of emails asking to part it out, or can I buy your 16" dark crash...I want to see the whole kit. SO there is another question. Is something like this, parted out, a better use of my time?

Hopefully you guys have had some luck and can share the wisdom.

Thanks

Jim

This is a vintage drum forum. Generally speaking, parting out is frowned upon. It's your kit, knock yourself out and do whatever makes you happy. Thankfully, there are no drum police. Dream police, yes. Drum police, no.

Thanks, this is the info I am looking for. I want the kit to stay together. I love it. I just need to sell it. What I didnt want to do is break out all the cymbals, etc. I wanted to sell the kit as one lump sum. But if drum kits don't sell that way, I need to learn the ropes. Thanks for your input.

I see no harm in parting out cymbals, and possibly even hardware, but I do believe the drums should be kept together. Like previously stated, however, they're yours to do as you please.

Put them up in the For Sale section. If you don't mind shipping I might be interested in them depending on the sizes, condition and of course the price.

Hi Ed, i'll post them this weekend. hop the cymbal suuite doesn't turn you off. They are a full set of newer (2010) Zildjian K (8 cymbals mastersound hi-hats, hybrid ride, etc.) I'm trying to sell as a set...but I'll post it and give it a whirl. I love this site so far, friendly people, great advice.
