New Bass Drum Day...Bonham Content!!

All I can say is, I'm blessed!! This one is one of those "barn" stories. You know, the kind you read in car magazines where some lucky guy responds to a classified add and finds a mint condition '69 Hemi Road Runner under a tarp in some old lady's garage. In this case, it's a '69 Ludwig 14"x26" in completely original condition, right down to the heads. It even had a wad of shredded newspaper inside from 1974 used as dampening material!! The kicker was, the guy I bought it from (very nice guy who knew what he had but wasn't trying get rich) was way out of state, computer illiterate and didn't have a car big enough to drop it off at a UPS store. Fortunately, my sister lives about an hour and a half away from him and she was able to pick up and ship them to me. To top it off, it came with a 16" ft and 14" rack tom, although mismatched. I cleaned them up a little today, which consisted of wiping them down with some windex to get the dust off and set them up with the rest of my orphans. Have a look-see:

Thanks!! I think I'm going to try to find some original red sparkle toms before I go the re-wrap route. The first thing I need to do is find a rim for the 18" and get it tuned up!

I restored a 14" rack tom I had w/clear maple interior to match the the rest of the kit minus the 18". Someone had spray painted the shell so I scraped it off and it turned out pretty good. The nice thing is that it is has the correct left-hand side tom mount/badge location ala bonham...

Hey could you do me a favor and measure the Ludwig logo (height x width). I'm wanting to get a repro made but need the size. I love that size logo on the blue/olive badge Ludwigs but can only find the vintage or the bigger new style. Thanks! If anyone knows of a source for the smaller 70's logo I'd really like to get a few for my kits.

I will do that and do one better. When I pull the head off, I'll make a photo copy or scan it. Do you know of a source that can do an accurate repro with the white background?
