Whoa! serious mongrel kit. I like it! Clapping Happy2I am on the way to something vaguely similar. I got a 14x26" Gretsch 1940's BD, have an old 10x14"single tension marching snare I am converting to a tom, a 14x16 1930's leedy floor tom (close enough for me), and a 402 snare I just had stripped of pitted chrome. I am refinishing it in a natural aluminum. All I need is the 18" FT.Funny too, I just picked up a Luddy Standard set yesterday with the BD mostly filled with 1974 newspapers! LoLoLoLo

Newspaper must have been the 70's "secret weapon" for bass drum muffling!!

VERY cool! However,I believe you actually scored a Carmine Appice model lol. If you go to You Tube and search Vanilla Fudge, keep me hanging on,Ed Sullivan you'll see what I mean. Carmine turned Bonham on to the over sized Ludwigs. I saw them jam together at Singer Bowl,Queens NY circa 1970 or so at a Fudge concert. Bonham was so stoned,he had to be carried on and off the stage! It was a big jam session with jeff beck,Page,Plant,Rod Stewart,Glenn Cornick (from J Tull) o bass and a few others from the show. The bill was:Edwin hawkins Singers (Oh Happy Day) , 10 years after,Jeff Beck Group w/Rod Stewart and Ron Wood on bass and vanilla Fudge. The jam was un expected.Good luck with the set! I'm working on a similar set myself right now in the maple finish.

I thought Carmine's was an old Leedy? There's a good video of Jeff Beck's Definately Maybe with Cozy Powel playing, what appears to be a double 14x26 bass drum red sparkle kit as well...I'd love to see pics of ya'lls bonham style projects!!
