I've got this beaut little pearl kit, I think it's 60's? vintage but I can't find it in any catalogues on the net, anyone know what this one is? I'd love to get a model name for it! Any idea what it is worth. I have a matching snare for it too!

As far as a model name or number, you'll be hard pressed to find that. It is a 60s kit tho, and a very nice one at that.

I spent a few months stripping and cleaning the whole thing so it's looking really good. From what I can gather it has slingerland copy lugs and a ludwig tom mount copy. It's an original wrap it came out of someone's garage after years of neglect.

hey thanks, didn't realise new stuff had come up. Looks alot like a 68 but with legs that are closer to an arbiter, I've got an arbiter in wmp as well. The snare has really irregular lugs on it, might even be another maker.

Trevlak- you might have seen the recent thread "MIJ snare wood or metal?" I am a big fan of these simple MIJ steel drums- I use an Emperor on top and Ambassador reso with the internal muffler tightened. Just a great smokin R&B sound. I have alot of other nice drums but not one I am unafraid of throwing in the taxi trunk and sounds so good. I recorded a cd 2 weeks ago for an artist and chose my 70 Pearl Challenger steel shell 5x14- once I get the mix down I`ll post a track. These drums are great.

It is a Pearl snare, designed as a copy of the Rogers Dynasonic. Looks like you, or someone, hit it with steel wool. That is a big no-no. There are many other ways to do it. Never use steel wool on chrome. The only time to use it is on the tension screws. Anyway, that snare is chrome over steel. It will be a bit ringy, so you'll have to use some tone control to keep it under control.
