Pearl 60's kit? help me identify this baby!

A dynasonic copy cool! The photo really brought out the nasty pitting on it. It was pretty rusty when I got it. It hasn't been steel wooled by me, I don't use steel wool at all. Definitely a ringer, love the old school rnb tone!

Ok here's my other snares, the steel one I found in the 60's catalogue but the wood one, I can find the same lug style but not the snare throw, I think that might be mid seventies?

Yep, that's a later strainer, late 80-90s if I'm not mistaken, but a nice one. That is a good quality strainer, much higher that the original would have been. I'll bet that little girl screams.

Yeah it's a really good quality throw, I've noticed the difference when changing snares lately. Yep she's a beauty, quiet but a nice mellow wood tone, a lot like the ludwigs of the era that I've heard on recordings. It sits in well with the other 60's pearls. My snare of choice at the mo!

I believe the wood/BDP snare was put together. The throw and the lugs don't match, and it's a 6-lugger to boot.Does it have a Pearl badge? If not it's a stencil, like my Dixie's from long ago. That snare should have the throw that tips as you adjust it.

If it DOES have a badge,or the nail holes where there was a badge,it's in the 1969 Catalog-the"Popular"model

I should have said-the throw doesn't match the lugs.....

Well, as for the strainer, you are correct. However, those are notorius little pieces of dung...I am beginning to replace most of mine with newer, more reliable parts. And that is possible in this case. The old "tippers" just wear oiut if someone actually played them. I have a handful of them that are worn and just don't work anymore. Those lugs are correct for '69 woodies.

yep I think your right it is the 69 popular model it has the pearl lettering on it, and the throw style began in 69-70. Definitely a whole lot nicer than the other ones I have. The other style require alot of tweaking to keep the snares tight.

Jonni- just for FYI that newer model strainer is featured in the 1980 catalog. I don`t think it lasted too much past 84 or so

Thanks man. I really like that one too. It should have lasted, but who knows. Looks like a clock face Rogers. Maybe it was too expensive for these "low-end" drums we love....BTW, we share middle names, except mine is spelled with a "K".
