Very nice kit!..My badge is the same except it also says..Made in Japan...Is there a time frame difference?Also,what do you think it will end at considering the market being what it is?

A few expensive blooded buyers have been in lately- odd, considering the economy but I expect this one to go about 500$ - I think it`s actual worth is about 350$ myself. There really are less STAR drums out on auction about 10x more vintage Pearl stuff than STAR. I think that rarity factor will bring this one up in price a bit. I have the green light from my wife on this auction so I might jump in.

And it is covered in pleather to boot! I wonder when that was an option? Looks like it is 20-12-14 and 5.5 snare. I am about to start a restoraion on another Star 20-12-14 that has been "refinished"-had the wrap stripped and then stained. I think I am going to talk the guy into letting me wrap it in plastic wrap, maybe a nice green srark, or maybe I'll do the poly/glitter in a color of his choice.

Anyway, those are nice! But the ripple in the snare...I don't know, maybe this is a re-wrap. Someone saw a Black Panther and decided they could just cover these instead....?

Must say that I, too, have strong doubts about the black wrap being original.

All I know from catalogues of that aera is that black was mainly not listed in,

besides an early 70s, being listed as 'Jet black'.

So it might be rare (black in generally was not common at that time) - but even

today I find that colour fanciless.

I wouldn't bid on that - especially not for that amount you think it will be settled with.

Nice drum but, I too don't think the wrap is not original. It seems like the plastic leather (pleather) that you can buy at wal-mart. I already re-wrapped a few drumkits with that material. It looks nice, sort of the Ludwig Black Panther wrap, but probably not original to the drum..........I may be wrong.

Osaka, these were all orphan pieces in my garage that were reunited as a family with one common denominator.........Pleather !!!! Made some kid happy, that's all I know.

If we all give the gift of music, just once, it makes this all worth it. The very first kit I completely rescued from the fireplace was last summer, and I promptly donated it to the kid around the corner. As a reward, the Drum Gods (or as I prefer, The Good Lord) saw fit to make sure the gorgeous set of WMP in the gallery came my way.
