Wrap Question

There is probably a link to it here somewhere but I can't find it so far.

There are a number of retailers that sell drum wrap. Is there one that's better than the others?

I'm looking for a Red, Silver, Champagne or maybe Green Sparkle that's close to, or the vary same wrap for Gretsch's 60's (NITRON??) drums.

I never have any success emailing Gretsch - the emails get blocked/spamed at the boarder (Can/USA). And, when I ask this type of a question anywhere else.........I'm referred to this magnificent Forum. You gotta love thatClapping Happy2

I want something that's "Killer" if you know what I mean. I don't mind paying a little extra for a really great product.

It's going here:

From GG Vintage

Yes - thanks - these are a couple that I've seen. However, I'm needing some regarding how the finish compares to the original Gretsch wrap of the 60's for instance.

I thought I'd ask here first to see if someone has actually compared the wrap from the suppliers mentioned here for instance to that of the Gretsch Nitron wrap.

Anyone?

My round badge set had the floor and bass rewrapped by Explorers Percussion to match the hanging tom {original}. They did a good job, great match. Because of that, recently got green sparkle for a Rogers floor that needed redoing from them. Good again. I imagine most of the suppliers get wrap from the same sources......Bill D.

90% of the wrap comes from Delmar, but you can't buy it direct. You have to get it through a distributor, like Precision Drum.

The sparkles are close to the Gretsch sparkles....probably about as close as you're going to get these days since they make all the wrap slightly different from the glory days.....

Thanks guys - good information.

I was told that today's sparkle - Gretsch's Gold Sparkle for instance - is little flakes whereas the Gold Sparkle on my 58 Gretsch is made up of little Hexagons = clearly different. My 'chunky' Gold Sparkle is more like today's Glitter except the Glitter is random "chunks" and not hexagon.

What ye say??

Yup, you can get crushed glass or the hexagon sparkles from precision.

This sounds great if Precision has it!

A while back I got in touch with JamminSam and they didn't have the HEX sparkle finish and didn't think I could find it - new.

Thanks!
