I read that one of my all time favorite drummers ,the late B.J. Wilson (Procul Harem,Joe Cocker) main snare was a Pioneer! If it was good enough for him.....................!

I've got a mid-60's Gretsch round badge Dixieland model 6-lug snare that I've been using as my main snare lately. Remo Vintage A batter with an ambassador snare side and 30 strand puresound metrix snares.....fat and sensitive. Really diggin' it.....and I'm a ludwig guy! LOL!

Not to hijack the post here - but we are talking about 6uggers.........so:

I just bought/won a 60's Gretsch Dixieland on eBay - it'll take a few weeks I thing until I see it.

I wouldn't mind any info or better yet detailed photos of you drum Mr. Ludwig-dude, to compare mine and to give me more info on what the hey I'm doing when I'm restoring. Can't have enough info you know.

I've posted mine elseware on the Forum - These photos are from the eBay site where I bought the drum - $76. I think the badge is worth that alone.

The down side is I bought a snare side hoop on Monday for $75 and the batter ..........well - we'll see how the bidding goes on that one, it's high.

Great thread!

I love all these 6 lug drums - I had no idea there were so many out there and that so many people liked them - I'm impressed & happy.
