I just did all my hardware with 0000 and the chrome looks killer. Like new.

I'll agree it does clean amazingly well but it does leave a haze from the scratching. Personally, I can't see the scratches but there is a haze if you look closely. A safer bet is Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish or Cape Cod cloths.singer

Beautiful set, beautiful finish......congrats on it!!Cool1

I like to use Noxon on chrome.

Another method that works real well, but is a little more time consuming is soaking chrome parts in a solution of half Dawn (the dish stuff) and water.

Soak the stuff overnight and then wash and dry. Some folks would also say to finish with a polish.

I just use noxon in a ventilated area.

I have to agree with this statement about steel wool, except, the steel wool i was recommending is a finer grade than what is available at home improvement centers, the pics i have enclosed is at almost cotton ball grade,i live in NC where we still make some furniture and i am able to use a custom grade made for them.and it will leave a show quality shine, no scratches no haziness!

No matter how fine the abrasive is, it's still an abrasive and it will introduce new scratches into the chrome surface at a microscopic level. The chrome layer is usually verrrrrrrrrrrrry thin and too much abrasive polishing will remove that layer. The difference between this and polishing wood furniture is that when you polish wood furniture, it is an additive process where you are adding and leveling a finish of some kind. Using it on chrome works by trading a few large scratches for thousands of smaller ones.

I use WD-40, rags, paper towels and broken popsicle sticks and my fingernails to clean all my chrome. It takes forever but I find it is usually the most-effective/least abrasive method -and is somewhat meditative, too. :)
