Nice vintage kit, Slingerlands are a great choice. I have this same set up in WMP (1964). I haven't gotten around to buffing them out and making them glisten yet. Soon I will. Slingerlands truly appeal to me,there is just something about them. Nice score enjoy your trophy.

Don;t use a buffer...just a rag, Novus2 and some elbow grease.
Don't use steel wool.
Off my soap box now.
Lots of elbow grease!!!
i used steel wool on the chrome, why isn't this good? Did I ruin the hardware by using steel wool or something?
No i think he mean't on the wrap,On the chrome is ok, just get as fine a grade of steel wool as possible!
No, don't use steel wool on hardware, especially lugs and rims. Even the 0000 grade scratches.
Really...don't use steel wool except when absolutely needed. like on rust.
Yep even 0000 will leave a haze on hoops and lugs.
