I will be interested in what the guys on here tell you to use. Wood can be very absorbent when it comes to odor, especially smoke. How bad was the smoke damage?? Were the shells wrapped or finished wood?? They are probably going to ask you to post some pictures so think about doing that ahead of time. They are going to want to see the smoke damage. Good luck.

Heck yeah, tell them a comparable replacement would be a Ludwig Legacy kit. They won't like it, but you might as well. If nothing else, maybe you'd end up with the next down, the Classics. Worth a shot.

my dad bought the 79 power factory set new in 79 it was pasted to me about 4 years ago. in our town we have a drum shop that deals with alot of vintage drums he owner is a good friend of my family so he restored them for me and valued them at 6500 i talked to him today and hes goin to give me a value for them today.

what do you all think about having them wrapped in a sparkle if they have to be rewrapped instead of goin back with black

File a claim for replacement value of all drums. Your vintage dealer friend can be helpful, although the claims adjuster will make some calls to check current values (believe me, they occasionally called me when I was in the biz) if you're claiming the drums as vintage items.

After settlement, hopefully, you'll still keep the damaged drums to restore/ repair.
