Can anyone identify these lugs?

Loading...

I bought these off eBay for a project but couldn't use them as the lugnut inserts are non-standard (may be metric but definitely smaller than standard tension rod pitch/thread) although the mounting screw holes accept standard thread screws. Pretty nice casings actually, heavy thick-walled construction and the plating was nice at one time (now a bit worn & scratched). Anyone have an idea what brand/manufacturer?

Well, if the inserts are metric, these could be MIJ lugs, though I haven't seen this type before. Does anyone know if German, English, Czech drums, etc used metric rods and inserts?

You could easily swap out these for standard size inserts. I think Gibraltar makes them, you could most likely get some at your local drum shop, or ebay.

I like the look of the lugs, by the way.

Thanks, I was considering replacing the inserts and might end up doing that. I like the way they look, too...nice and simple lines.

Sorry Mikey to contradict: no - those lugs were never used by Star as far as I recall all their different types of lugs. I've never seen this type of lugs before.

In that case, did other countries besides Japan use metric inserts? The European drum builders?

Yes, of course. The entire world (other than this tiny piece called U.S.) is metric. We are pretty much the lone holdouts.......rebels that we are.

That's what I figured. So then these lugs could be anything other than U.S. Could be Japanese, UK, German, Czech, Italian... Maybe a pic of the inside of the lug could reveal something?
