Can anyone identify these lugs?

Loading...

I scanned the insides of the casings closely when I had them disassembled for cleaning & stuffing with felt...nary a mark or word. They are the only casings I've ever come across that don't have mounting "studs" that penetrate the shell for mounting screws...and they were designed flush that way, they didn't break off. The quality of the construction (heavy casting, very good plating, hefty internal tension spring) had me wondering if they might have been Sonor or Premier, but the style & lines made me think Asian.

Yes, maybe.

If you are lucky, it's stamped 'Japan' inside, then it's MIJ.;)

Other then that it could be from everywhere.

In that case, did other countries besides Japan use metric inserts? The European drum builders?

We haven't confirmed the threads are metric. I'd be curious if an older US t-rod in 3/16" 12/24 would fit.

Hmm, I wonder? The lugs don't look that old, but possibly. Good idea! Time for a trip to the hardware store.

OK, I saw a Lyra, MIJ set, with those on it last week. Mystery solved, they are MIJ. Don't know if Star or Pearl, but they are from one or the other.
