Stewarts worth

Loading...

just realised theres a section for this type of post, sorry

first post so....hi

I have and old set of stewarts (orange sparkle) that ive had since i was probably 14, and then they were old as hell.

i still use them to this day as my only set, i have added a tama 12" tom to them, but thats about it. i have all original hardware (except that cymbal stand for bass drum) and an OLD ludwig speedking pedal. i cant find the bottom hoop for the "rack" tom, but i play them anyway.

i still am using the original kick drum heads too, btw. they aren't in the best condition, but better than when i got them.

i was just wondering how much they might be worth?? i think its about time to step up to some better drums.

any help appreciated.

Welcome....Nice to hear you,ve had the drums so long. They are not bad drums at all but they have a very low resale value so dont expect much in return.Depending on overall condition you might get 100 bucks if the right buyer has to have them. Its not an insult, just the way the market has swung around. You can get old Premier drums in great shape for 3-500 so keep that in mindKeep on Pl

this is the only pic i have right now,not very useful. i'll take some more when i get home, then upload on my way to bloomington tonight.

sorry for bad quality, was on my old phone. my new droid has a 5mp camera, so those will look much better. plus i have them setup different now.

Whatever you get new, it neither will have that charm, nor brings the new one back your memories. If you can't see it any more: just put it into a corner.

In ten years or so you will be happy that you still possess it. Believe me.

If it still has the original heads on: buy new ones (my proposal: Remo Ambassadors or Emperors on top and - yes! - new resos as well: Ambassadors).

Clear or coated: it's up to you. Important: tune it up carefully like stated on many videos on YouTube (e.g. Bob Gatzen etc.).

That will bring back life to your kit - you'll hardly believe it!

I ut new heads on last year, but not resos. went with remo pinstripes, and they sound kinda dead/shallow? so i should invest in some new heads for both sides? and a hoop and lugs for my rack tom then huh?

what heads are suggested?

im goin to be micing them here, i have a mic set, just havent yet cause of the way they sound. suppose i could do a before and after of them with new heads

The pinstripes are designed to sound exactly how you described, low and punch with a short decay. I'd suggest Remo or Ambassadors on top and bottom, they have a much brighter sound with more resonance to bring out the tone of those drums.

I also have to agree with what Ralf said, the money you'll get for these will never be worth giving up your first set. Store it away if you want a new kit, and pass it along to your son, daughter, niece, nephew or whatever. The sentimental value of it highly out weighs the monetary value of the kit.

ill keep it if i can get it to sound better, the tom heads are a short decay, but more of no decay, unless i hit it by the edges then theres a ring.

i guess ill try just getting the resos first, then if i still don't like the sound i'll get some batters.

any suggestions for the snare sound??
