well i feel retarded, they are out of round. the 13" by 1/8" and the 16" almost 1/8" just a little less.

i assume thats my tuning problem.

ive read on how to fix it, im gonna get some threaded rod sometime this week. then steam it up and hopefully round it up.

FYI..I have a 6 lug Kent snare that is badly out of round,but it has not affected the sound in a negative way.Maybe the toms are more easily detected due to the looser tuning.

huh, well i figured thats why my heads are hard to get on the 13" and it seems inpossible to get consistent tension on all rods

sincerely, not to dead pan your enthusiasm on this project, but you might want to just get a set that`s more playable. These might be better as a some little student's first set. There are literally millions of drum sets out there just waiting for you.
