This is the Display Your Rewrapped Vintage Drums Thread

Here's my latest project. A Rocker II shell that I wrapped in Blue Oyster from BumWrap. It will resemble a Jazz Festival when complete. Just need to clean the lug inserts and then I'm done!

This drum is just for show and will be one of three Jazz Festival tribute snare drums in my collection. The other two are wrapped in Psychedelic Red (from BumWrap) and Citrus Mod (from Jammin' Sam).

Thanks Mark! The Rogers is wrapped in Blue Pearl from Precision.Apologies to the forum - I just realized this was an older thread and that I probably would have chimed in. Which I did. Sorry for the double post.Old age sucks!

Thanks for confirming the wrap!

I have nothing to contribute, because I would be hopeless at re-wrapping drums, but still wanted to chime in and say how much I love seeing all these. Thank you all for posting such seriously impressive work!

These drums were stripped of their og wrap and spray bombed when I got them.

Late 60s/early 70s Ludwigs rewrapped (by me) in the new Mod Orange.

Beautifully done, Kevin. I'm also shopping Mod Orange for my latest Ludwig project. From whom did you buy the wrap? Thanks in advance.

That is the wrap that Ludwig is currently using. How I got some...I promised not to tell but it took over a year of concerted effort to get it.

The best readily available Mod Orange is the stuff that Jammin' Sam sells. It has the colors down pat and is random like the original. The difference between it and the stuff Ludwig currently offers is simply the overall pattern, although neither quite perfectly recreates the original from the late60s/early 70s.

I originally was going to buy the stuff from Jammin Sam but got into a bit of an argument with him on the phone while trying to place my order for some full sheets and then he refused to sell it to me.

This all happened a couple years ago and it's possible the wrap I used is now available on the aftermarket as a special order...might be worth a phone call to Precision to ask (although that's not where I got mine). I have bought a couple of unique wraps through them that were not shown on their website.

There is another variation that is made in China. stufffordrummers.com carries it but it's not quite the same as the original, lacking the lavender color....although from a distance they all just look orange.

Ludwig Standards rewrapped with Bum Wrap Pink Oyster. Or so they say.

It's more like Burgundy Oyster.
