Yes, I am very pleased with the result. Niklas is probably the best drum builder in Sweden, and certainly did an exceptional job with my kit. The kit sounds great, too. So I feel very good about having had this fine instrument repaired and renovated for another 50 years of playing. :)

It may well last more than another 50 years this time. People have a much higher degree of respect for these vintage instruments now and a Gretsch Progressive Jazz set will be at the top levels of that respect.

I've done many, but my two favorites were the ones which needed the most work. Here's the "before & after" shots of a Rogers Fullerton set and a Ludwig transition badge set. WMP and OBP from Jammin Sam's.

Not vintage, but this Mapex set was an experiment using countertop laminate for drum wrap. On the left is the set as I found it.

If I'm remembering correctly, wasn't the "cortex" wrap a countertop laminate suitable for vertical applications?
