Looking for info on Dale Murphy

Loading...

So over the course of this summer I have come into some neat pieces. What started it was a 4 piece blue sparkle George Way set (20, 12, 14 w/matching snare) in stellar shape. Included in the sale was a vintage trap case that had "Dale" painted on the side in a cool kinda art deco style. The previous owner had replaced the original leather straps with some new ones. The last purchase I made was from the same fella....it was a bunch of vintage sticks. They were mostly Camco "PeeWee" sticks and on the other side it says "Little Dale". I also have a single Eddie Knight stick, and a single Louie Bellson ProMark stick, and a pair of WFL sticks. I also purchased a cable that had a sticker on it that said Dale Murphy....among some other modern items.

I have looked for weeks now and cannot find much of anything about Dale Murphy, Little Dale, or a Dale that is a George Way/Camco artist. I was wondering if anyone on here may have a lead? Not sure how common it was back then to have your name on a stick. Thanks!

Assuming Dale Murphy was from Indiana and was a professional working musician, you could try contacting the three or four Musician Union Locals to see if someone by that name was a member in the 50-60's.

Ok....hopefully these come across. A few of these are of the day I got them in my buddy's basement. There is one more on my shelf looking through the BD....mid cleanup. If these for some odd reason don't post I will take some new ones soon.

I also did throw a few shots up in the show off your George Way drums thread. When I completed the cleanup and started to jam on these....wow. I tentatively booked a local studio to set these up in and get em under the lights all dolled up with all of Dales stuff hanging around for a photo shoot. There is a bit of local history here I really want to uncover. Unfortunately the one man that had all the knowledge recently passed. RIP Eddie.

The Ludwig(?) canister throne completes that high-zoot vintage look. Very nice drum set.
