You and I are two drummers who know that a well-made six lug snare drum with a simple snare throw-off mechanism can play and sound as good as any eight or ten lugger with a pound and a half of finnicky adjustments. My preference has been for Slingerland, Slingerleedy, Camco, and Rogers six luggers. I'm sure that Ludwig, Gretsch, and other brands have great simple six luggers.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

The drum arrived just a little while ago! Glad I was home, as it's over 100 degrees today and I would have hated it to sit outside for a long time!

Here are the first 5 pictures in "as-received" condition. All pictures were taken indoors with only natural lighting.

And the final 3 pictures! The serial number on the Black/Brass badge is 49419, with an internal date stamp of OCT 64. Very nice!

All the chrome is in excellent condition and just needs to be polished. The wrap is very nice, with just a tiny bit of dark specks here and there, which is to be expected. Missing only two tension rod washers! The dried out gum rubber washer is still intact! I wouldn't be surprised if it disintegrates if I touch it!

I'm just incredibly pleased with this drum and it will look great once I clean and detail it!

That drum should sound great with new heads and snare wires. The green is vibrant for being 56 years old.

Super fine example, as always, from you, Mark.

Congrats .. !!

I also have a soft spot for the "Student Series" offerings from Slingerland. I lean towards the Student Model, but there's a Deluxe in Sparkling Red Pearl in this pic that I love as well..

Kevins!

A wonderful collection of Slingerland Student snare drums! I also see an aluminum snare and a Radio King, correct?
