Here it is on the rail and on a snare stand. The rod thing that holds the tom rotates even after tightening it with the wrench key. It's just a bad design, that rod is smooth, it turns upwards while playing.

I use a small socket wrench on mine. The original key wrench does not allow one to tighten the nuts sufficiently to stop parts from moving. the original bar uses a 7/16" socket and the bolts on the end of the banana are 1/2"

The tom looks to be very close to the same position in the stand or the mount

I'm talking about the rod that holds the tom, you can see it here. It won't tighten enough, it's smooth and rotates.

I was a purist and would not use a snare stand at any cost. I thought it looked terrible. Then I finally tried it. The position was slightly improved, as was the flexibility to move it more forward (closer to me). THEN, I tried some of those Little Shakers, I think they’re called, and now the drum just sings. I am a convert.

You might consider getting a Ludwig style upright for your rail (or better yet an unbranded repro version). In around 1967 Ludwig dropped the "telephone dial" design and went to a ratcheted design that grips the tom arm with an eyebolt. Much much superior to the older design. Using one of those would solve your problem and also be completely reversible if ever the need arose. Just a matter of swapping out one part on the rail.

I was too. I think it might have something to do with the alignment there. Either there is something up with the camera or the lug alignment with the other side is way out.

Maybe you can go with the mount I pictured below. They're cheap and much simpler with less things to go wrong. Just a thought...

How does this set compare to that 65 Leedy BDP you had last year? I thought that was a beautiful set and I wish I had bought it from you. I feel like that was the set to have.
