Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

Loading...

I found this kit here locally, it's a Slingerland in a black diamond pearl finish. The kick is faded and the floor has two extra holes towards the bottom.

He has rail mount and everything is there.

I'm thinking about picking it up for $575.

Does that sound reasonable?

What year? I think that this is a great price. Go for it.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Those are really nice I love the bdp great sizes and price, was there a picture of the extra holes? Probably hard to see with that finish, I'd grab those. I wouldn't by a kit with a tom holder added if it had rail mount or the wrong mount but small holes at the bottom of the 14 that you can't see wouldn't bother me

Great sizes. As myk stated extra holes are hard to see with this finish, but it looks like the BD had a rail mount. Based on what can be seen this kit is approx. mid year '66 to mid year '68 time frame. BD may be older but more pictures/info needed. Good luck with purchase.

It did have a rail, you can see the holes, the guy just took it off. Here's some more pictures.

Assuming that rail is original to the bass, then pre '64 for BD (pre mid '63 if interior is mahogany). Some additional features are pointing more toward '68 for rack and FT. Likely not a born together kit. Serial numbers? And that's a shame about those holes in the floor tom.

I don't know if they were born together and you're right, it's too bad about the extra holes, but for that price I can live with it.

I'm trying to figure out the purpose for those two holes near the bottom of the floor tom. The previous owner must have mounted something there. maybe a cymbal mount? The factory-installed cymbal mount on my Rogers floor tom is closer to the lugs for the top head. Maybe he might have installed the same type of mounting bracket for a cymbal arm, and installed a rod with a stick tray there?
