Just the 2 holes?strange, they are bigger than I would have thought but they could be hidden pretty well if they bother you. I wouldn't let that kit go considering the sizes, price and finish D' Drummer

Here they are, I put the rail back on, but it's useless, maybe I just need to work with it more.

Here ya go, the first is the floor, the second is the kick, the 12 doesn't have a badge.

Give me five minutes with you sitting behind those Slingies, and I'll have the 8x12 positioned to a comfortable orientation for you. The arm with the spade on the end of it is the component that can do the trick. It can be adjusted many different ways to bring the tom to be where you like it to be.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thank you. FT is '68, expect beige stain interior. Bass is early '63, expect mahogany interior and possible date stamp. I was wrong about the 12" in my previous posts it is pre mid '66, interior ply and possible date stamp could narrow it down further. How are they sounding?

The problem is that it won't stay in place no matter how much I tighten it. I'm taking them to the drum room today where I have a wrench key and I'll try that. If that doesn't work, it's going on a snare stand.

If it's slipping on the rail, itself, and the armature cannot be tightened sufficiently, then it's very possible that the rail, itself, has compressed or been worn down by years of over tightening and use/abuse.

You might be able to run a piece of friction tape around the area of the rail where you want it tightened. You might have to pry open the armature to get it over the tape again but...It's a quick fix more than a solution.

Also, if possible, you might be able to reverse the end-to-end orientation of the rail and use the less-worn end....(if there is one)....This would also reverse the orientation of the armature...unless you can remove the armature from the rail and then flip it.

EDIT: Yeah..It looks like you can just remove one of the bolts from the end of the rail and then slide the armature off of it....flip the less-worn end of the rail and then slip the armature back on....voila. This will work if the other end of the rail is less worn.

IF the rail has never been removed from the bass drum shell, then it's likely more worn on one end than the other. By reversing the end-to-end orientation of the rail on the bass drum shell and flipping the armature, you can give the armature more diameter to tighten down on and nothing has been altered.

You prefer your RT on a snare stand anyways, don`t you?

My Ludwig kit has a rail in excellent like new condition and I put my tom on a snare stand, bass is 22, with your 20 you could position your tom closer over the bass on a snare stand .

Glad you bought it, nice kit
