Ok, no more levity....I would say Phil Collins. While not on the same drumming caliber of Rich, Morello, or Peart he is one heck of a song writer, composer and singer. I also heard he’s a great conversationalist and funny as all get out.

I don't know why I know this but Phil Collins is also a world class expert on the Alamo. I think he even donated his vast personal collection of Alamo related items but I may be wrong.

Phil would be my pick too, probably with the Trick Of The Tail tour kit, although they were all pretty cool, starting with the blonde 4-piece.

Surprised though that you rate him below Peart. As a Canadian I always wished RUSH well, certainly heard a lot of it by proxy. Never could get excited about Neil though - it was always very precise and clean, but I didn't see any of the wild ideas of the type Phil would come up with. Would also suggest Phil had a lot more swing. Just my take.

I'll go with Ed Shaughnessey (spelling?) .... and his white Ludwig kit. Just loved that Johnny Carson era and I think he held his own with the head to heads he'd do with Buddy Rich. Has anyone ever written a book about Shaughnessey?

Shaughnessey wrote his own book a number of years back.

I think it's titled "the luckest drummber in the world" or something like

that.
