Cool little MIJ, I haven't seen that finish before, maybe "red ripple" ???? I printed the logo and threw it on the reso head...

This is a 20" Supreme Bassdrum, a 14" old Westbury FT and an old Rogers 12". Technically not a full MIJ but..... The snare is an unknown shell and i added all the parts to it along with the wrap. I also made the wrap for the 3 pc. kit. I had some of that blue/ turquoise paint lying around for years and I wanted something totally unconventional so here it is....

Such a high-gloss finish - did you paint the back of some type of plastic sheeting? Looks swell!

Yes, i make my own wrap when i have a bit of time so i bought lots of 4'x8' sheets of thin glossy plastic. It's the same thickness as any drum wrap. You just paint the inside and apply to each drum with Tesa tape or carpet tape.

From Chicago Dave

Got this 20x14 mij bass drum for $20. It was in rough shape so I gave it a second chance. It pairs nicely with the 26" bass.-Removed the split wrap and stripped the black paint from the hoops -Plugged all the holes in the shell with dowels and sanded smooth-Used Slingerland single tension tuning to give it a vintage marching drum vibe-Fabricated legs & brackets

That is sweet... i like to assemble one of these every now and again..

I have no clue what the wrap color is called on this little four piece Zim Gar kit 20" bass drum 12" mounted tom 14" floor tom and snare drumThey showed up on the Boston Craig's list for fifty dollarsThough kept in one family for many years since purchased new and having the same wrap and badges throughout the kit The factory apparently went with double tension stage band style lugs on the snare floor and mounted tom but used a single tension design for the bass drumThe correct mounting hardware, has since been added, Thanks to DownTownFarmer Mitch

That's called rootbeer swirl

My Star kit will be "on display" in Rhythm Magazine's "Vintage Vault" feature, courtesy of the great Geoff Nicholls (author of many a fine vintage drum book) and Simon John's Vintage Drum Show (Coventry, UK, where it was photographed last October).

The drums are a 1972 silky blue kit (22"x14" / 13"x9" / 16"x16"), along with a 1973 Kingbeat snare (14"x5") formerly owned by Neo, of this forum.

I believe the the next edition of the magazine (recently relaunched) should be on sale in the next week or so. Needless to say, I am almost priapic with excitement.
