Let me close by saying, you're a very good sport about criticism. Other guys on forums would explode and argue-I've seen it happen many times-but you take it well.

I think I explained why I trade drums, it's just fun, I use every kit I get and maybe one day I will find that one special kit.Cool1

Opinions are opinions but the fact of the matter is that a lot of professional touring drummers use DW. They sound great, tune up well, have functional sturdy hardware, look fantastic and Im sure they have great product support. I don’t own a set, but whenever Ive used them on a backline they were a pleasure to play. I have a couple of their stands which work great. They are an american company born out of the ashes of the other great american drum companies. They are “modern”. And that sets them apart from the vintage sounds but also keeps them relevant to modern music.

I have a four year old grandson too, so I get it. He's here a lot. I call him the Little Hurricane.

I agree all around. I get great artist support from DW, and the drums look and sound great. Mine are almost nineteen years old now.

Bullcrap, horsehockey, whatever you want to call it.Just because touring drummers decide to go with DW does not magically make them great drums. Sounds great is a preference. Modern music has nothing to do with what you are making it with.

They don't have the wood to make them like they used to. A drum should be able to take a beating and not be treated like glass. After all, your primary objective is to hit it with a stick.

I don,t post much ,but here it goes.I have owned and played drum sets by the four american companies in my55 years of playing and touring,I purchased a DW classic series modeled after slingerland rk,s they are the 3 ply mahagony poplar mahagony shell,s butteredges,I have been gigging with them for quite some time,let me say this,they do not sound or feel like the vintage sling,s they sound in between a modern and vintage kit,same edges,but the wood needs to age I am satisfied with the drums as I play mostly big band and rock and roll,I have no regrets, as Far as johnny Ringo,do your thing brother,keep on finding those vintage kits , what youdowith them is your. Business. My respects to all members on this forum.

Ya know what modern kit does have a vintage vibe? The new Ludwig Club Dates, the ones made in the USA with the thin maple/poplar/maple shells with no re-rings. I traded for one several months ago, it sounded like a vintage Ludwig and they were very light. I wound up trading them for another vintage kit, but now I wish I had kept them. It was in a beautiful cherry stain finish.

Since we kind of brought Rogers into this, I thought I would post this YouTube video up. Wow, this Rogers sounds like really good. That's the sound right there. And the drumming is spot on as well -

The drums do sound good for sure. A little high on the snare tune for me but I can tell I would like it. I would have liked to have heard some rim riff's though. Cymbals sound like sh*t. But that's just to me, I don't like that tin sound. Maybe because I like thick cymbals.
