Wait, this is coming from one of the drum police who search the internet for dudes asking far too much for vintage drums? I thought you were on a quest to stop this from happening, to keep prices reasonable so us poor folks can afford to buy them. I would say this kit falls in that category.

Very odd market these days, but if someone advertises a price that's in your opinion a little [or a lot] higher than normal, so be it. No one is twisting your arm to buy, but if you do you must have a good reason. I forgot to add; This is the buyers business and no one elses...NO ONE. I shake my head at times but its not due to the asking price, but more because someone actually paid crazy high for it...None of my business.

I do think this set is overpriced, and it's been sitting for a year unsold. If you had read my earlier posts regarding this set, you might have realized what I meant.

So, what's your theory on my Leedy kit? It's clean, pretty much all original and no extra holes. It's been sitting at $800 or make an offer with no bites here or on Reverb.

DrumBob... with all due respect... are you suggesting any of your listed sets compare in each and all categories of quality, durability, configurability and rarity (to my SONOR set)? If so, in what way?

Im not an expert but I’ve been watching the drum market for a few years and what i see is that there just aren’t that many people interested in vintage drums. There are a few people worldwide who buy “low” and try to sell “high”. Every once in awhile something gets hot. For the most part people have drums that have decent value. They are high quality, great sound and good condition. But not that many buyers want them. Plus the people who are buying go to the vintage shops which are more abundant. Everybody wants a deal but noone wants to sell low. I cant blame people for that. But if you really want to move stuff taking it to an online vintage dealer and letting them have a commission is probably going to be quickest with the biggest return. Unless you have round badges, old k’s, or radio king snares.

Multijd: Where do you get the impression I'm seeking "quickest and biggest return"? If that were the case I would have already either subdivided the set or parted out the individual pieces.

I dont have that impression! Lol. Actually its pretty obvious you don’t! I was talking in a more general sense. Your post seems to have morphed into a discussion of whether drums are “overpriced”. I was commenting in that regard. Good luck selling your drums!

Like I said, the people who would be interested in this kit is a very small group, and they've looked at it, seen your silly price, and here it still sits - over a year later. They've moved on.

Again, the market has spoken.

Let's not be so harsh to judge, let's evaluate what he has here. Drums made in Germany by Germans probably making 50 grand a year. A kit that has no historical value or owned by a well known drummer. A kit, mind you, that most likely cost less than 2 grand to make and that probably sold new for 5 grand. But, sure, by all means, ask for $14,000, who knows, you may get lucky and find a rich sucker.
