I remember in the whey back machine I had a Obp 12 x 18 1/2 inch bd I sold it for cheap under a grand wish I had it now that’s what I’m looking for sucks .....

Vintage Jazzette kits come up for sale about three per year on average (38 in 13 years). Orphan 12x18 bass drums come up less frequently. So it's possible. I got my kit in Feb 2004, which is when I started tracking sales. I used to do things the wrong way around and get interested in price research after I bought something. ;)It's very early Blue/Olive with serials in the 760,000 range. That's an older snare (1963) and I've since acquired a matching Jazz Festival dated Apr 13, 1970 thanks to Mike Layton. I've also got a Supra date stamped Dec 19, 1969. So I've got the Supra if I'm being a catalog purist about what snare "belongs" with a Jazzette kit. [img]http://black.net.nz/drums/jazet72.JPG[/img]
Thanks zenstat. Good to know it is obtainable at least, even if it rarely turns up. I bet your Jazzette sounds great!
Btw I always do my research _after_ buying...to be able to just close my eyes and buy without concerning myself with boring things like market value and such. (I’m only half joking :D )

Yes it came with a Downbeat. That probably increased the price although there are other factors. This one ticks all the boxes: wood finish, premium seller, includes snare, Downbeat snare, excellent condition...
I believe that is the kit sold by Bill Maley in 3 days after it was offered at $5995 on his (now retired) site ClassicVintageDrums. That was Sep 19, 2015. And yes it had a matching Downbeat snare with it. Date stamps put it at 1967. I can't be sure whether that is the actual price paid or a lower offer was accepted. It is the second highest price I've recorded. The highest was in May 2018 for a 1968 Thermogloss Maple kit which was marked sold on eBay at $5999.99 and went to Norway. Again I can't be sure that that was the actual price paid.
