First, I'll assume you're talking about a single tom arm rather than a double tom mount. In the absence of pictures, it's a little difficult to guess which style Swivo tom arm is period correct for your drums. Swivo tom arms went through a variety of evolutions and styles....

I have posted many pics on this forum over the years, for some reason, today it's not allowed..don't know why it keeps saying upload failure. They are all jpg. Nonetheless, my bass drum is a 14x22 Rogers 1975 transitional Londoner Five, script badge. The tom holder is the double, with the plate with holes to put dual tom holders in. On the BD tom holder, there is a hand nut to tighten the mount inside the holder on BD. Is that hand nut to face the audience, or away? The ones you show are single and have the collet. It's tough to explain without a pic.. thanks for your help tho!!

First, you should only be using 2 of the screws on the tension ball. This pushes the tom arm ball against the internal housing for maximum surface contact. Using more the side by side pair of screws means the ball is held in place by the small surface contact area of the ends of the screws. This will damage the ball. There are 4 holes so you cn place the 2 screws at a convenient location for tightening.

And using a single tom arm can also make use of a drill stop on the downward hex end to hold the weight at a certain height without having to over tighten the collet. The collet will only need to be tightened enough to stop the tom from twisting.

Usually the adjustment side of a base plate would face the drummer on most brands but looking at a couple of catalog pictures it looks like Rogers did install (at least some of) them with the adjustment facing the audience side.

Amos guy failed to mention that the two screws to be used to secure the ball within the Swivo cup should be next to each other rather than 180 degrees apart from each other. Two adjacent screws will push the ball against the side wall as it should be. If the screws are 180 degrees apart, you can end up with the ball being held in place by only the screw tips.

Short answer = yes.

The wing nut goes on the audience side and therefore the flat side of the T post also faces front.

The short arm (with the socket) goes in the T, while the longer arm (with the ball) goes in the tom.

As others have said, only 2 screws, not 4.

important point right here

the swivomatic ball and socket joint is designed to be held with two set screws in adjacent holes pushing the ball against the opposite side of the socket

there are 4 holes simply for the players option

if the set screws are across for each other you are actually working against the design and will most likely strip the ball out
