1960’s Slingerland 8 Lug Snare Questions

Loading...

Hey guys. I came across a Slingerland snare at a consignment shop and was wondering what it might be really worth. I’m not a Slingerland guy so my knowledge is nada. As far as I can see, it’s a Slingerland 8 lug snare in pretty good condition, looks to be a wooden shell.

The research I have done so far is that according to the badge it is a 1963-1969, made in Niles Illinois with serial number 38722, which seems low.

Any help or info would be appreciated. Any values would also be great as wel! Thanks!!

Looks like a nice Mahogany drum.

The lugs are "Sound King" and the strainer is the "Rapid."

This drum is approximately 1965 and is the Student Model Snare Drum. The size looks like a 7x14, in a mahogany finish, catalog number 157. Here's a link... http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1964_slingerland_16.jpg

The condition looks clean, so an educated guess to value might be $100 - $125. How much are they asking?

Definitely not worth that kind of money. It's obvious the store doesn't know drums and thinks that because it's old, it must be expensive. It's a student-level drum and sells accordingly.

Is that snare considered a Student Radio King?

No it is not. It's a Student Model snare as Mark stated previously.
