That was a really good price for one of those.

Yes it is way too much for a Pioneer, but it isn't too much for a matching snare that finishes off a prized drum set when the other vintage alternatives will probably cost two to five times as much.

I agree as if in minty it really was

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

A very good deal at that price for a BOP Pioneer. A tough wrap to find in that year. I have a bunch of pioneers in my collection and they are not a bad snare at all

I believe the new owner is quite happy with his acquisition. He posted a picture over at DFO of the snare and his matching ( and now complete ) OBP set.

I tapped on a few Jazz Fests in my time.....sounded okay but never felt right to me. The Pioneers, on the other hand, sounded great and felt great to me. I have a gold sparkle 1964 (red muffler felt) and NOB rims, P-83, etc.....original Weathermaster head has never been taken off since it left the factory....best sounding snare I own -especially for brushwork- probably why the heads have lasted.

If I had the option of either/or when it came to taking that kit WITH the matching snare or not, though, I'm taking the Jazz Fest 10 out of 10 times and twice on Sunday.

I am very happy with it. I will need to clean it along with the set which I acquired last year just before going to the Chicago Show in May. The set came with a Supraphonic.

Nice goin', KCDD! That kit looks great, & complete! Lots of Ludwig kits look sweet with a Supra, but nothing looks right with an OBP kit except a matching snare. And now you got one!........marko
