Ok boys, I went through the stash and I came up with these to put out for sale. It's a bunch of 18's, one 20" ride and a set of 14" Istanbul Hats.

Here's the offering... priced to sell. (photos on request for serious inquiries.)

1. 18" Zildjian -Hollow Logo- crash. 1270 g. Sweet as they come, no cracks, dings, or key-holing. A really nice crash. One of my favorites.

$150. plus shipping

2. 20" Zildjian ride (70's made in USA) 2418 g. -very slight- keyhole. Great wash and stick.

$150. plus shipping

3. I have (2) 18" Sabian Vault 'Artisan' crash cymbals. They are signed and stamped med-heavy crash. These buggers sell for over $400 each on fleabay...

$250. (each) plus shipping - Priced for quick sale.

4. 18" Paiste 505 green label med/hvy crash. A rare and wonderful sounding cymbal. These 505's are hard to come by these days. I love the sound of this one. I actually have a sound file for it and I will send the link to anyone who is seriously interested in it.

5. 18" Zildjian 'K' dark crash. This one has a repaired crack around the bottom of the bell and is as playable as ever. Great way to own and check out a 'K' if you're on a shoe-string budget.

Ok, here is the crowning gem...

6. 14" Istanbul (made in Turkey) Mehmet -signed- Jazz Hi-Hats. This set was -hand picked- for me by the manager of the Turkish manufacturing plant. They are from the 'Custom Sultan' series. You can't touch these hats on Fleabay for anything less than $400 a set. First come, first served... amazing sound...

Hey John. Great stuff here that you're offering. Is the 18" Zildjian hollow logo the one with the hollow ink logo on the underside or the earlier model with the hollow embossed stamp (Hollow block...block stamp)? Either way, desirable for sure. Thanks buddy!

Had several people at the Chicago show this past weekend looking for 505 stuff. Hope one of them sees this.

Your cymbal could be an in-betweener. There are a small number of cymbals which combine features from different time periods. Please don't shoot me in the brain, but perhaps the 18" has a stamp like this?

versus the real deal Type I Large Stamp?

You can tell the difference in the stamp by measuring the height. If 1.5" then it is what we call a 60s Stamp. The hollow ink Zildjian is sometimes found on the bottom of cymbals which have a 60s Stamp even though the hollow ink Zildjian didn't officially start being used until 1978 or so. The combination of hollow ink Zildjian and 60s stamp is found on 2% of cymbals with a 60s stamp.

If greater than 1.75" then it is the 1950s Large Stamp. In about 90% of the Type I Large Stamps the top isn't pressed in fully. You can see this in the example above. If you don't compensate for the missing portion when you measure the height it can seem a little shorter...but it is still easy enough to tell it from 1.5" on the ruler.

The other way to tell the production era (independent of what trademark stamp it has on it) is to look at the hammering and lathing. If you post pictures of the top and bottom that might clarify the production era.

Zen - I would never shoot you (or anybody else) in the brain. I was expressing my frustration with people who ask a -thousand questions- by PM about an item and then disappear into the ether. I -always- appreciate your knowledge and expertise when it comes to anything 'cymbals.' I will take a couple of photos and post them up later.

While I have your attention... what do you think of how I priced everything? I wanted to make trigger fingers itchy.
