Ludwig Blue Oyster Pearl 12,13,16,20

Loading...

I picked these up on Friday from Revival Drum Shop in Portland. This probably was a double bass drum set. Made in 1971 they are really clean, the wrap doesn't have any flaws that I can see. This is the layout I was wanting so I jumped on these when I saw them. Traded in my Club Dates.

I have a pretty clean supra with B&O badge that goes perfect with this set.

What kind of heads do you have on your 71's? These came with coated ambassadors which are fine, but that's what I have on my big Mapex set also. Maybe I should put the oil filled heads back on those. Just thinking I should have some variety in sound. I would like to find a 60's band to use the Ludwigs in.

Very nice! Funny to see the toms set up left-handed with the tone control knobs facing outward. I'd love to see those set up in the original double bass configuration, but good luck ever finding another Bowling Ball virgin bass.

I have clear ambassadors on the reso sides and black dots for batters...

Nice set ! If your going to use those in a 60's band, stick with the Coated Ambassadors. I use them on batter and reso on my vintage Ludwig's. I personally would never use those oil filled heads. Your not going to go wrong with what you have on them now. That's how they were meant to be.

LOL ! This is the Ludwig set i've always wanted ! I was born in '71, and Bowling Ball Oyster blue is my

favorite Ludwig finish. So to have that kit would be something special. But for now, i'm stuck with my

Big Beat Black Cortex ;) Congratulations on a great find !Clapping Happy2

Beautiful set. This was most undoubtedly part of a rock duo set that had two bass drums. I wonder what happened to the second bass drum? I have a rock duo from 1968.

Steeeeeeeeeee...rike! All of a sudden I have the urge to make a white Russian and watch the Big Lebowski!

There was a similar kit that was at an auction locally (NE Ohio) not long ago...7 out of 10 shape I'd rate, went for $1800 if I recall. Those you have will be a solid investment for sure.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.
