New drum coming

Jeff! It looks great! Like your drum, I have a similar snare, sporting a "Karen" badge. Both our drums have the Clam-shell copy strainer and Gretsch-style lugs. Does the muffler on your drum look anything like the one on mine? As to the original die-cast hoops on my drum, I've never seen any like it! Get your drum all detailed and post pictures!

Mark, yes, mine has the same muffler mechanism and knob. But no dia cast hoops (dang-it) they are COS stick saver type. I will tear it down tonight and get the parts soaking.

Granto, thanks man!

Jim, yes, Slingerland looking strainer and butt, but Gretcsh looking lugs, and then the ball bat lever looks Ludwig-ish.

Its gonna clean up real nice, pics to come!

Thank you!

Hey, Jeff! Finding that beauty was a lot better than listening to Justin Timberlake, in my opinion anyway! What a great find!!! You da man!

P.S. I tend to indulge a bit as well, my friend. Musicians are supposed to!

Hey Jeff

Nice find ! I like the MIJ snares as their wraps always look great.

Your right, never saw a Topper badge either, maybe ArchXAngel Jay has. . .

Nice throw and the muffler knob looks a bit beefier than most of the MIJ's.

Great catch, let us know how it sounds

Michael

Thank you Michael! Yes, Jay has a lot of MIJ drums and so does Kenwood. It will be interesting to see what those guys say.

As far as sound, It has a horribly worn out ambassador on it. I did tap on it a little and it did not sound good, but with new heads and adjustments to the snare I think it will sound pretty good. I say that because the shell is super thin, just like the one I used for my music for mutts kit last year and that snare sounded awesome! But I think a big part of that was it did have cast hoops which were donated by me good friend Tom Everson.

Thank you!

Sweet find! I haven't seen that badge but I have two of those exact snares. One has a Rocket badge, the other ( also in BDP ) has no badge. Same exact dual strainer and butt, Gretsch knock off lugs. My best guess is these were made by the non Star Hoshino. I've never seen anything like it in either Star or Pearl literature. And both companies were good about advertising all the options they had as far as strainers,lugs,etc... Either way great find, and you have the lever with it. Neither of mine had it. BUT - I did recently find one of these is a steel shell that did have the lever. I bought it just for that. Mainly so I can try and duplicate one at work.

18 Kits & 40+ snares..
