Ludwig Rocker II's?

Loading...

Hey guys,

Tried looking at Ludwig Rocker info and to be honest, it seems so variable I'm not sure what to use to identify the Rockers. I know this isn't a new subject.

I'm thinking of going to look at these drums and would like to know what they are to the best of my ability. The person selling is nice but does mot know anything about drums. There is no snare.

Thanks,

Wes

I believe those are just Rocker's. As with many other lines there are a lot of variables. But from what I understand and see I'd say those are Rocker's and not Rocker 2's.

Do you think these would be American made?

I thought I read later ones from the 90s were overseas.

These are definitely the American made drums, the Asian Rockers have imitation Mach lugs and a square badge with a red writing on it. It’s good these are the American ones, because my high school had a set of import Rockers and they were garbage! The wood was like MDF, you could see the little chips of wood in it. Sounded terrible too, even with decent Remo Emperors on them.

Those look to be the American made (Chicago) drums. All the hardware is basically the same as the more expensive line but the shells were 4 ply for the toms and 6 ply for the bass drums.

Definitely American.See my post on Ludwig Phasers. I certainly have learned a lot about these drums while restoring a snare! My snare looks great but sounds.....okay. Nothing like my Supra. I'm off to Mexico for two weeks in a few hours. Maybe we could talk more when I return. Best of luck.

Wes, congratulations! Being american-made Ludwigs, they'll probably sound amazing! Judging by the pics, the heads are pretty old and beat up. I'd put on something like a Coated Ambassador over Clear Amb, or a Coated Emperor over a clear amb. Hope you enjoy playing those beauts!

I'm interested to see what sizes they are seeing how there are 4 mounted toms and a floor tom. I'm assuming a 22" BD and a 16" FT but hard to tell from the pics.
