I'm not sure on what transparent adhesive to use- I guess they all look white or yellow after drying. If I was selling the drum I'd probably just use some double-sided tape to keep the cracked wrap on the kick in order to sell it- figuring that the new owner would probably re-wrap the drum. Amazon sells clear double-sided tape.

I should add that the tape is very strong and leaves a residue (if removed), but can be cleaned off with with a citrus-based adhesive remover.

Hey thanks for that link! I did have tape as one option but did not know what tape, so thanks for the suggestion. Right now I am in the process of putting the wrap on by installing one lug at a time. I only got three lugs ( top and bottom) on and had to leave the shop, but its looking like the wrap will end up too short , the holes are not lining up real good. they get worse as you go around. This drum also needs a re-ring so Im not sure its worth the effort or not.

I have painted the interior of wrap pieces a bunch of times before with Krylon white paint to get it more opaque. You can then use any kind of glue.

For the record you can get clear-drying water-based contact cement, up here in Canada anyway. I much prefer the harsh poisonous version, because it works better, but I'm pretty sure it will melt that old MIJ wrap.

Jeff there's a guy in florida on ebay that is still selling a translucent WMP wrap. The wrap is from China so the good flammable stuff. Small chip pattern. It may be a decent match. ans like drumfx suggested you can tint one side to match. I'm years behind on my floor tom project doing the same thing.

*****EDIT to add....... guy sold out of that wrap sorry. Was a few years ago and he had quite a bit. He must of had a fire sale to get rid of it.

Jeff I used regular single sided packing tape

slipped under the wrap sticky side up to catch both sides of the crack

simple when you have a full length crack like that

nothing wrap to wood, the gap can be mended with a strip of similar donor material

It looks to be on the underside luckily

I have been looking for just that very stuff to fix a bass drum in near identical condition

I was offered 50.00 for that bass drum so I took it, a guy bought it for the hardware and could use the wrap for inlays so its going to a good cause. The shell was toast anyway, it needed a re-ring and had a bunch of holes. So now I will sell the other toms which are pretty decent. Thanks again!
