Must remove original grommet to flatten badge. Worth it?

Hey, all. I've got a 1964 Ludwig Jazz Festival snare drum. Because it has most the Ringo specs (5.5 x 14, red felt mute, etc.) it's pretty special.

Unfortunately, the Badge is bent and kinked so it doesn't lay down flat. In order to flatten it, I'd have to remove it, do the work, then reinstall with a new grommet.

So, which is better from a collectible standpoint?

1.nice flat badge with new grommet

2. wonky badge with original grommet

Hey Vanguard. Welcome to the forum

You will get lots of opinions on this one. First off, an original JF is pretty special and demands lots of cash. If you plan on a resell then IMHO I would say leave it as is and let the new owner decide. If you plan on keeping it as a showcase piece then you could always replace the grommet, hold onto the original, and if you resell them all is available. Me personally, I'd leave it as is

Here are some crummy cellphone pics. It's White Marine Pearl (my favorite) with nickel over brass hardware. Hardware is pretty tarnished, but I really like the way it looks so I'm planning to leave it as is.
