Sorry, I just had to do it.DOH
I only have two kits at the moment, this being one of them, but of all the kits I've owned and let go over the years, this one is a keeper, it's just too cool.
I can understand your affinity for that great looking drum set. It just oozes retro classiness.
i refinished this one because it was painted flat black and i couldn't bring it back....So here it is. 24/13/16, what do you think?
It's a beauty. What year is yours?
Mine have a date stamped that looks like 1960. I'm having a bit of a problem getting the 13 to open up, it sounds good, but it's not resonating as well as other Ludwig toms I've had in the same size. I believe I'm going to have to try a different tuning on this one. Normally I have the resonant head tighter than the batter, I'm going to try tuning the resonant head lower, see if that helps. The edges look ok, so I'm hoping it's just a matter of finding the correct tuning range for this particular drum.
Same here, the 16 and the 24 are so easy to tune but the 13 is kinda dead. I have an emperor on top so i will change that to a thinner skin.
BTW i can't see a stamp anywhere because the previous owner painted everything flat black. I stripped the interiors to bring them back and the ink disapeared.
