First one is a crash, second one is a ride. They are stamped "ZYN SUPER made in England" (ride) and "ZYN MADE IN ENGLAND SPECIALLY SELECTED FOR SONOR" (crash). They are for sale and seller says he found them in house he bought in Germany. At least the crash is supposed to be more silver-like, than bronze.

What do you think?

The Super Zyn was the top line cymbal that Premier offered. They were made of B-20 alloy and manufactured by Italians who were former WWII P.O.W.'s. These were closely comparable to the Zildjians of the period. Those made in the early 1950's were hand hammered.

The Zyns are made from nickel-silver alloy and are roughly comparable to Paiste made Ludwig/Standard cymbals of that era. Later they came in several quality grades. One star up to 4 stars were stamped under the trademark. Also later on the Super Zyn trademark was given 5 stars under the name.

Personally I wouldn't offer more than $125. I consider that 16" to be essentially worthless.

I had a 20" Zyn from the 60's when I was kid. It had the silver look I'm gathering was from the nickel, which is incidentally the exact amount I think that cymbal was worth. Man did that thing sound horrible.

To me it bore absolutely no resemblance to a Zildjian, but like Zildjians there probably is a hige difference between individual cymbals.

I've read Ringo used them... I don't think his sounded like mine did!

I would be more hopeful for a crash, as they are always way easier to accept than rides, and a 16" is a good size... I've had better luck with smaller cymbals 'cause they don't turn into monsters so much.

I have a pair of 15" Zyn hats. They are the silver ones, but have no stars beneath them. They sound SUPER trashy and barky!!! I've used them for special effects, not much else...

Long before I took up drums my brother got a set of 60s club dates that came with zyn hi hats and another zyn--not sure if a crash or a ride.

I hit them once and thought they were absolute garbage. We've called them "tyn" ever since. He just flogged them on ebay. Good riddance.

I too am astonished that Ringo could've ever played a zyn especially once the Beatles had any success at all.

Most likely it was not a Zyn.

Yar ! Super-Zyns are GOOD cymbals.. Like A. Zildjians of old, although a bit brighter and edgier in tone, a bit less "dark". But they are good.

Their market value, however, is low...because people associate Zyn = Garbage (see above comments for proof ;) ) In quantity, they likely made a lot more of the cheapies than the good ones. But most don't realize at all that Zyn ever made a top-shelf cymbal.

So $125 is about right...the ride will likely be the good cymbal there....that'd be worth about $80-90. The crash worth about $25-40.
