Majestic De Luxe Re-Wap

These are surely not 3 ply but I thought I counted 6 plies if that's possible on this model. I'll get out a magnifying glass and see if there are 9...

Thanks for clearing up the two 12" tom mystery johnnistix! I love the uniform look of it but was baffled why one mounted backward. I wonder if these fall under the "rare" category since they did a limited run. I couldn't find any photo evidence anywhere on line of one of these kits as sold back in the day so I was starting to think one was an orphan tom that just happened to have the sam wrap.

If anyone is interested, this is the guy I got the wrap from out of NY. Not much selection but different stuff.

I wish they were birch. These are good old stringy porous Asian mahogany. Right or wrong, I painted the interiors gloss white to fill in the pours and hopefully make them sound more punchy.

On a closer look, all toms and bass show 7 distinctive plys. Was that a common thickness? Or I guess, uncommon thickness?

Aha! Found photographic proof of the crazy backward tom mounts. One badge out, one muffler control out. Courtesy of Johnnistix FB page. Hope you don't mind me pinching that Johnni...

Makes you wonder how anyone thought that set up was a good idea. The rail tells me their intent was to mount two toms but you'd think after assembling a test kit they would have corrected that mess.

Very possible! There were years when they exoerimented with 3, 5, 6 and 9.
