Why do we hate concert toms?

I actually love the sound of some concert toms. Not from the bands that tnsquint mentioned as i cant stand the eagles, theyre my least favorite band ever.

But I absolutely love the sound of Neil Pearts concert toms and my favorite of all is Gil Moore of Triumph. Really like the sound of his concert toms. I believe he played TAMA Imperialstars

One thing is for sure....Everybody has an opinion when it comes to concert toms and the best thing about that is that everybody can tell you exactly why they like or dislike them.

Keep fixing them up...

The concert tom thread!

A perfect spot for my first ever post at VDF as...the start of my cobbled-together Vistalite kit was a humble $120 pair of clear Vistalite concert toms (10x12, 11x13) that I procured back in 2011.

Pert plays them Collins played them Moon played the (watch the video on you tube, Who Are You), many other too, and that`s all I ever played and own. I simply like the accent from the BD, FT, snare, to the rack concert toms.

Welcome!! Gosh that's a cool picture!-Doug

Thanks man!

I actually wanted to go all concert toms for the Vistalite kit (especially since I recall the 15 and 16 inch concert toms are much more affordable than the double-headed floor toms) but I ended up liking the 10x12 and oddball 10x14 double-headed toms that I got next.

(I started a thread about my set here - http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=59022 x-mas3 )

When Keith Moon and Phil Collins are two of my favorite drummers ever...it's not hard to see how I'd be influenced to do the single-headed thing a bit. Mallet Player2
