Slingerland project

From vintagemore2000

Jeff first off ditch the push button for the usual t handle leg mounts, and here are some really nice modern stick saver rims, the have a different rod collar but they are first class rims I've used them on some of my sale drums when I couldn't find real replacements. http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6_7_68

Thank you Mark, I do have the t handle mounts but I installed them on my other Slingy floor tom a while ago. I was hoping to find or trade for another set over the last few months but it did not happen. I will probably take them from the other drum for the mean time.

I have bought those hoops before also, I think they are just fine.

Thank you!

Wow those look great Jeff! Can't wait to see them all finished with heads.

I'd be tempted to get some 18" bass drum hoops and have a conversion option for a bop kit with the 13" mounted in floor tom position...you might not be tempted to do that. :)

Looking great! And I like how clean and organized your shop is.

Thanks Mitch, no I had not thought about that idea. And since you brought it up I just remembered I bought a 12 x 15 Slingerland 3-ply shell for 30 bucks. the veneer on it is toast but I have lots of maple veneer left over, hmmm, I could get the 18" hoops, make a cradle for the 18 and wrap the 15. Finish all of the above to match and use the 12 x 15 for the floor tom.

Would be a cool bob kit, the cradle would allow the 18" floor tom to be used either way. I think I will do that so when I sell the kit it will be like a lego set, change it around however you want. I also have the necessary hardware for two mounted toms, so if I could find a 8 x 12 five ply shell I could add that in the kit as an option.

bartw, thank you for the compliment on the drums and the "clean and organized" shop.

Heads go on today, test drive in a few hours.

Thank you!

Wow so nice Jeff!! They look great next to the 40 too. I bet they sound fantastic. Natural finish drums seem to sound much more open than wrapped versions. Great job man congrats!!
