Sorry guys, I'm out...

It's a great forum but over the years the tone has changed a bit. A few of the amazing geniuses have disappeared. I am afraid guys like me wore them out. :( But I did go out buy a library of 10-12 references and I'm always looking for more. Funny just opposite happened on the Slingerland Facebook page... The young guys on there are just down right nasty. I lurk much more than post now... still a great forum.

Not a Guru... just interested..

I think this is a great Forum...I have been fortunate enough to be part of it for the last 6.5 years or so...The members that regularly post are very knowledgeable and experienced...

I also give the thumbs up to our Webmaster David and our Super Moderator Tommy...They know when to let things slide, but, also know when to tighten it up as well...

Thanks to all who have made my stay an enjoyable one!!

Cheers

From Apickel

I've enjoyed this forum for many years, and relied on it when I first started getting into vintage drums about 10 years ago (I'm only 31)..I've bought and sold to many of you, with many smooth transactions. I have nothing negative to say in that aspect. However, there's been some recent chatter that will really deflect the interest of vintage drums from even a younger than me populace, and I simply cannot get behind it. There's an amazing group of people on here with knowledge that could truly extend the interest of this hobby, but yet decide to exclude the uneducated with a holier than thou mentality. This is not a family I want to be a part of. What are we doing?!Moderators, feel free to contact me with any questions. For the rest of you, I've had a lot of fun learning the ins and outs of vintage drums, I appreciate everyone that's been involved. I'll still be heavily involved in vintage drums, just not through this forum. Thanks everyone, but I'm out...-Apickrl

If the 'live' members are giving you $hit, use the Search feature. All the accumulated wisdom of the Krell is there!

Too many great drums to list here!

Meh.

Don't know what the OP had in mind but here are my :2Cents:. Just like every other part of life there are members here who don't agree with each other and have different opinions on things. So what? From what I've seen 99% of conversations here are quite polite. I'd hate to see any kind of censorship here. People with passions have strong opinions... to the point of "holier than thou" and arrogance. So what? Ignore them. Personally, I don't need a 'safe space' where I don't get my feelers hurt. Give me your strong opinion and I'll say 'thank you for your opinion.' If I don't like it I won't use it. If somebody doesn't want to take the time to type up an explanation to one of us noobs, so what? With so many people coming through here asking for a free assessment of value so they can go dump a kit should someone feel obliged to waste their time on a new member until you know they will contribute? Knowledge has value... especially to people who are buying and selling for profit. You can't always expect those who have worked and studied at this to just give it away for free.

I can't understand who any conversation here could 'deflect' interest in vintage drums. From a buyer-seller and collector point of view if 'the market' has demand then there will be interest. "The market" extends far beyond the members of this forum. Vintage drums are a limited resource. We are not talking tulip bulbs, here.

Schmeggie I am your age. I have the pre ZZ top beard going. It isn't just for the millennial hipsters. Bonham did it. Ringo did it. Laughing H Grow the whiskers. You can skip the man-purse.

This thread made me remember the value of what I've learned here. I appreciate this forum, so I just hit the donate button up top and sent the fellas $10.

Your last post was 9 months ago before yesterday.

Instead of helping someone on here with your knowledge, your first post in 9 months was to state that you don't want to be part of family that "decides to exclude the uneducated with a holier than thou mentality".

Huh?

Ploughman, vm2k, snaremania... Thanks for making me smile with your comments! Mo Tonkie, I also appreciated your research into the posting history of the OP. I just try to keep our little slice of the vintage drum internet alive and well... and interesting!

I'm new here as well and I'm 29. I have gotten nothing but help an encouragement from everyone on this forum. You are a great group of people and I value how much time you all have put in to help the "next generation" of drummers with an interest in vintage drums.
